Studio apartment

Design studio apartment of 23 square meters

Often people, buying a small apartment, think about how to equip such a small square meters and kitchen, and living room, and bedroom? Design studio with an area of 23 square meters. meters can be completely made functional, practical, aesthetic, and simply comfortable. This apartment is perfect for a student or a young couple. For a full-fledged family with a child, the studio is not suitable, if only as temporary housing.

Zoning space

To begin with, on an area of 23 squares we allocate only a place for a bathroom. Of course, to save space, it will be combined and a shower will be installed instead of the bathroom. For this area, 3 sq.m. will be quite enough. This will be the only walled space in the studio.

The remaining 20 meters need to be zoned. The most important thing is to separate the kitchen area.

There are several ways to do this:

  • Bar counter. It will perfectly help to separate the living area from the kitchen, while performing an additional function of the dining table.
  • Color and (or) texture of the floor. A very popular zoning solution. For example, in the kitchen we put ceramic tiles on the floor, and in the living room we lay parquet. An excellent solution for such a small studio to make the kitchen on the podium. As a result, in the resulting step it is very easy to place additional storage places for things, which is important for a small apartment.
  • Multi-level ceiling. Zones can be divided using different heights and colors of the ceiling, as well as using the backlight.
  • Niche. Here, you can also organize storage places for various things, books and other things.
  • Wall decoration.

Kitchen

Equipping the kitchen, you need to make it comfortable, and try not to attract attention to it, concentrating it in the living room.

If there is a bar in the kitchen, then, in principle, the dining table can not be arranged, thereby you can free the treasured meters.

If there is a balcony in the kitchen area, then a good option would be to combine it with the apartment, having previously insulated it. You can take out the refrigerator there by removing the window unit, organize a dining table in the form of a bar on the ledge, then zoning the kitchen can be done using a niche, using the color of the floor and walls.

The kitchen should not be large. Three wall cabinets and three floor cabinets are enough. In addition, it is possible to provide special covers for the sink and the stove, thereby increasing the surface of the cutting table.

If the kitchen is located in a niche, then it can generally be arranged in the form of a closet, then when closing the doors the kitchen set will not be visible, and the illusion will appear that you have a separate living room.

We develop a design project

If you have some skills, understanding what exactly you want to do, the interior design of a 23-meter studio can be developed independently, but it is better to contact professional designers. 13-18 meters are allocated to the living area in such an apartment, the rest is a bathroom, an entrance hall, a place for cooking.

The undoubted advantages of a small apartment:

  • the organization of a full-fledged repair will require much less time, effort, building materials than the improvement of a more spacious room,
  • the cost of "extra" things, items, accessories will significantly decrease - they simply will have nowhere to store,
  • utility bills will also be relatively small.

To visually expand the space, use a large wall mirror, a minimum of furniture, light wallpaper. It is very good if the apartment has a warmed balcony, a loggia. When combined with the main room, they will give an additional two to four meters, which are used to organize a resting place, a working mini-office. To expand the kitchen, they take a piece of the hallway, the living room is combined with the bedroom, separated from the kitchen by a narrow folding table, a bar counter.

If a family living in a small apartment owns a garage or an additional small room in the basement, then they store everything superfluous there - a little book, in case of a large-scale reception of guests, a bicycle, a suitcase on wheels, etc.

Stylistic direction

The design styles of a small apartment are the same as the large:

  • classic - the interior is decorated in gray, brown, bronze, beige tones, luxurious draperies,

  • minimalism is the very minimum of objects. Colors are used bright or light, contrasting, matte. The decor is almost absent, the furniture is as functional as possible, inside of which everything superfluous is hidden,

  • Scandinavian - a lot of natural light, white and pastel shades, natural materials,

  • hi-tech - an abundance of chromed metal, glass, shiny surfaces, built-in appliances. On the windows - shiny shutters, on the walls - black and white photos in the frame,

  • loft - perfect for the attic floor. Walls with masonry or its imitation, deliberately underlined water pipes, radiators, exposed ceiling beams,

  • Provence - wooden floors, linen bedspreads, wicker furniture, panels of natural materials on the walls, mat on the floor. Very "in the subject" will have floral prints,

  • fusion - a mixture of many styles. It should be used with care, in moderation, so as not to litter the space.

Baroque style for a cramped studio is not suitable - it involves excessively voluminous furniture, accessories.

It is not recommended to demolish and remodel the bearing walls on their own - this threatens with the collapse of the entire structure.

Color schemes

The lighter colors are used in the design, the more spacious the small apartment seems. The sleeping area is decorated with pastel colors - there should be a calm atmosphere conducive to falling asleep. You should also be guided by your own feelings - one is “lulled” by black-brown color, the other is purple, the third is woody. Bright shades are permissible only as decor elements.

Carpets in any part of the studio are preferred monophonic - so they do not "hide" the space. You can cover the entire apartment with a plain laminate, and highlight the middle of the living room, bedroom, hallway with rugs of various colors.

If there are few windows, 3D stickers with their image will save the situation - many companies produce them the size of a real window, realistic pictures of landscapes behind such a window.

Bedroom

A place to sleep is distinguished by a podium, a screen or even a canopy. They put a bed or a folding sofa. If two people are supposed to live in an apartment, then a bunk bed is quite suitable for them. For a couple, this option is not acceptable. In the case when the ceiling height is not less than three meters, consider the option of a two-level space - at the bottom there is a high built-in wardrobe, a desk, and at the top there is a sleeping place for two or three people. To climb to the second "floor" use a folding or ladder. The bedroom is perfectly equipped on the loggia or in the niche.

To organize a bedroom-nursery, the lightest, warmest corner is chosen. The room is separated by a screen, for an older child, a bed is made on the "second floor" - above his work or play place. In these cases, parents can sleep on a folding sofa in the living room, combined with the kitchen.

The corridor

It is advisable to refuse the hallway almost completely, highlighting only the place where you can take off your shoes and hang outerwear. The corridor is separated from the main room by a cabinet, which is turned “back” to the door, hangers for clothes, small shelves for shoes are fixed on this plane. A built-in wardrobe is also installed in the corridor niche, if any. Zoning of the entrance hall with the help of the flooring looks original - a contrasting color carpet, laminate, tile. If possible, the miniature hallway is separated by a sliding door. This is very useful when the apartment is not very warm - the door will provide additional protection from the cold from the street. Textile curtains, frosted glass, stained glass, metal walls with plasma perforation - a great solution. The lighting of the corridor should be sufficient not only to remove shoes and coats, but also normal combing, applying makeup. The situation will be saved by a special make-up mirror with bright illumination around the perimeter. Not more than 1.5-2 square meters are allocated on the corridor.

A bathroom

The most practical way to combine the bathroom and toilet is to allocate no more than 3.5 square meters for them. m. In another embodiment, under the toilet emit up to 1.5 sq. m. closed space, and instead of a bath they put a shower stall. The corner cabin saves space, as well as a miniature bathtub - triangular or shortened. The specificity of the bathroom is that it can be located only in a certain place of the apartment - near the “riser”. The washbasin here is also preferable to a corner, miniature, in the presence of a bath you can completely abandon it. The device of the heated floor in the bathroom will serve as additional heating for the apartment - there is too little space for voluminous batteries.

Competent arrangement of furniture

Zoning a space of limited footage is possible with the help of furniture - it is preferable to narrow. Relatively low objects divide the room, high - placed along the walls. All possible pieces of furniture are made folding or folding. No bulky tables, massive armchairs - they only “steal” an already limited space.

A wardrobe bed is a wonderful purchase. At bedtime, it is a bed, and during the day the sleeping plane rises without taking up too much space. A sofa bed will serve as a bedroom at night, being a compact place to relax during the day. An angular folding sofa will fit perfectly into a small-sized studio, decorating it. Furniture with wheels is very comfortable - the bed folds during the day, "leaves" at night in the center of the room. Almost all things are placed in closed racks so as not to clutter up the space. A good solution is shelving with integrated mirrors. The mirror itself visually creates room, high racks are a spacious storage space.

It is advisable to select all of the furniture or most of it in one color, similar in shape and style. High furniture visually saves space - spacious cabinets to the ceiling, a bar counter with high chairs, an “attic” bed.

Lighting

With a lack of natural lighting, artificial lighting should be doubly taken care of - the abundance of light will visually expand the room. The backlight is selected local - for each zone, its own, as well as the general, adjustable brightness. In the "sleepy" zone they make dim diffused light - ceiling lights, special shades, sconces. For the kitchen, contour lighting is suitable, combined with general ceiling lighting. Dense curtains visually reduce the space, because they are replaced with blinds or blinds, located close to the glass. This will effectively use the area of window sills.

The working area should be well lit - enough to fully read, write, do work on a laptop. If there is a nursery, it should be very light during the day, and before going to bed, a night light with a light sensor is turned on.

Conclusion

When developing the design of the studio, the size is 23 "squares", it takes into account who will live in it and for how long. Ideally, such a room is suitable for single people, temporarily and less comfortably even two or three people will be accommodated here. Such an interior combines compactness with comfort, originality with multifunctionality, this is a fundamentally new housing format. The problem of cramped space is solved by properly selected furniture, zoning, and minimizing the number of decorative finishes.

Features

When arranging the interior of the studio, it is important to consider several key features:

  • The apartment has no partitions, they only separate the bathroom.
  • Most studios have 23 square meters. m. have a rectangular shape with one window or loggia. With rare exceptions, such premises are square in shape, however, as practice shows, it is for a studio of 23 squares that a square is not a very convenient shape.
  • Premises without loggias and balconies are most often divided into two zones: a kitchen and a relaxation area. If you have additional space, you can attach it to the main one, or make a full-fledged office.

We are developing a design project

Start developing any design project with the arrangement of electric networks and drainage systems. As a rule, the riser with water in studio apartments is one for the toilet and the room, therefore, most often, a sink in the kitchen is installed in the corner opposite from the window.

This installation option is most practical, since it will take the least of all building materials and the work itself.

But in some cases, you can install the sink by the window. In this option, it will be necessary to draw pipes from the riser around the perimeter of the room. Such work is complicated by the fact that you have to conduct pipes inside the wall. During operation, for any breakdown of the pipe, you will have to open the wall and look for a leak.

Next, you need to place the electrical network: where there will be general outlets, for the refrigerator, underfloor heating, for the kitchen, for the oven, air conditioning, washing machine and TV. If you are doing major repairs and your funds allow you, then replace the shield and make several power lines for the entire apartment: separately for the bathroom, corridor, room, separately for the kitchen area, separately on the heated floor and separately on the balcony.

All these works are best left to professionals.

Having completed the technical part of the design project, begin the next stage - decor and decoration.

First, decide in what color scheme your apartment will be executed. To make the room more airy, choose light shades or white.

When creating a design project, you must clearly determine where which zone you will be located. You can separate the kitchen from the room using the bar or special compartment doors.

Zoning can also be done using drywall, making flat or bent inserts on the walls or ceiling.

The most inexpensive option is to make zoning using a cabinet or rack. You can also create a two-level floor or podium.

Not considered a budget option for installing a large aquarium or glass cabinet. Such options are most often used in studios with one window to visually divide the apartment, but at the same time “not eat up” the space.

In apartments with a balcony or a loggia, this extra space can be used as a rest room or work area. Before the final decoration on the balcony, you need to carry out construction work: install warm glazing, insulate the balcony with mineral wool or polystyrene plates, conduct a warm floor, additional outlets and lighting. In addition, you can make a balcony or loggia a full part of the apartment, increasing the space of the room.

Studio apartment design for a young couple

Studios of 23 sq m are ideal for honeymooners, because a couple without children do not need a lot of space for a comfortable stay.

For a comfortable arrangement of the interior, it will be enough to purchase furniture for the kitchen, hallway and bedroom. To receive guests, you can put chairs and a coffee table, and purchase a bed that can be made into a wardrobe at any time (a transforming bed).
